About this space

Zeemon Cottage is a classic Lake Erie retreat in the heart of Port Clinton — a comfortable home base whether you're here to fish the western basin, spend a day at Cedar Point, hop the ferry to Put-in-Bay, or just unwind on the covered deck.

The main floor has two comfortable queen bedrooms, each with blackout curtains and a TV — good for sleeping in after an early morning on the water. The full bathroom is on the main level too. Upstairs, a sleeping loft adds real flexibility for families and groups, with two double beds and two twin beds for up to four more guests. The kitchen is fully equipped for anything from a quick breakfast to a full fish fry, and the living area has a Smart TV, Wi-Fi, and board games. Central AC keeps everyone comfortable on warm summer days.

Outside is where this cottage earns its keep: the stone driveway fits up to three vehicles plus a boat and trailer — no squeezing in — and a dedicated fish-cleaning station is ready when you are. Fire up the gas grill, take a seat on the covered deck or the enclosed porch, and catch the Lake Erie views through the trees. You're minutes from the marinas, the island ferries, and downtown Port Clinton, with Cedar Point about half an hour away.

Good to know

The sleeping loft

The loft is reached through the main-floor bathroom by a steep, narrow stair with low headroom near the roofline, and its half bath is open (no door). These are original features of an older cottage — guests who plan for them love the space. Anyone who needs a standard staircase can sleep comfortably in the two main-floor queen bedrooms.

What we provide

A starter supply of toiletries, paper towels, and trash bags — typically enough for 3–4 days for an average group. For longer stays, please plan to pick up extras; local stores are just minutes away.

The gas grill

The gas grill is yours to use. Propane tanks aren't monitored between stays, so it's worth checking the level when you arrive — if it's low, any nearby convenience or hardware store can exchange it.

Seasonal mayflies

Like most of the Lake Erie shore, the area sees harmless seasonal mayflies or gnats for a few weeks in late spring and early summer. They do not bite and are short-lived.

  • The house is great and we’ll be back next year! The house is well appointed with everything you need and some extras. One piece of advice…don’t forget the bug spray for sitting outside at night.

Where you'll be

Port Clinton sits at the heart of Ohio's Lake Erie shore — equal parts fishing town, summer destination, and gateway to the Lake Erie islands. You're minutes from local marinas, bait shops, waterfront dining, coffee shops, and the restaurants along downtown and the Portage River.

A car is recommended — most attractions, restaurants, and marinas are a short drive away, and nothing is walkable from the cottage. In season, the Jet Express and Miller ferries run to Put-in-Bay and Kelleys Island for island day trips. Cedar Point is about 30 minutes down the road, and the stone driveway fits your boat and trailer alongside up to three vehicles.
