About this space

Cedar Retreat is a refreshed single-level home right in the heart of Port Clinton, one of Lake Erie’s favourite western-basin towns. It’s built for comfort over compromise — two real king bedrooms, a queen sleeper sofa for extra guests, and a genuinely walkable spot a couple of minutes from the neighbourhood park and five to ten from Lakeview Park Beach.

The two king bedrooms suit two couples or a family who’d rather have proper beds than bunks. The primary has navy paddle-print wallpaper, its own private ensuite with a tub/shower combo, and a Roku smart TV; the second king, off the living room, has a Roku TV of its own and is served by the hallway bathroom’s standup shower. When you need room for six, the living-room sofa opens to a queen.

The open living area centres on a Roku smart TV and comfortable seating. The kitchen is stocked with full cookware and dishes and a Keurig K-Duo coffee bar with K-Cups, creamer, and sugar — note there’s no dishwasher here, so dishes are washed by hand. A cosy built-in bench-seat dining nook sits just off the kitchen, and there’s a full washer and dryer for longer stays. Central air and heat keep the home comfortable year-round.

Outside is where the home earns its name. A covered front sunroom with rocking chairs is a quiet spot for morning coffee, and the fenced backyard has a gas grill, outdoor dining, a hammock, and a fire pit ringed with Adirondack chairs (bring or pick up firewood — it isn’t provided). For beach days we keep beach chairs, a wagon, and towels in the garage for you, and the driveway is sized for two to three vehicles or a boat and trailer.

Good to know

No dishwasher

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking with cookware and dishes, but there is no dishwasher — dishes are washed by hand at the sink.

Toiletries well-stocked, not starter-only

Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided in both bathrooms, and toiletries, paper towels, and trash bags are stocked for a full stay rather than just a starter amount.

Security camera on the garage

A Google Nest camera is mounted on the detached garage and faces the driveway only — there are no cameras with interior or entry views.

Train tracks nearby

The home is within earshot of nearby train tracks, so you may hear passing trains from time to time, particularly at night.

Parking, not the garage

The driveway fits two to three vehicles, or one vehicle plus a boat and trailer. The garage is owner storage with a locked closet and isn’t available for guest vehicles — though the beach gear kept inside is yours to use.

Firewood for the fire pit

The backyard fire pit is wood-burning and firewood isn’t provided, so plan to pick some up nearby or bring your own.

Family-ready

A Pack ’n Play (sheets not included) and a children’s high chair are available for families travelling with little ones.

A car is handy

The park and beach are an easy walk, but a car makes the rest of the area — downtown, the Jet Express ferry, the wineries, and Cedar Point — easy to reach. There is no public transit.

Where you'll be

You’re on a quiet residential street in the heart of Port Clinton, on Lake Erie’s western basin — the self-styled Walleye Capital of the World and the gateway to the Lake Erie Islands. The neighbourhood park with its playground is at the end of the block, and Lakeview Park Beach is a five-to-ten-minute walk away. Downtown shops and dining are a few minutes’ drive.

You won’t need a car for the park or the beach — both are an easy walk. For everything else, a car is the easy way to get around; there’s no public transit. Downtown Port Clinton and the Jet Express ferry to Put-in-Bay are about five minutes’ drive, the Lake Erie Shores & Islands wineries fifteen or so, and Cedar Point in Sandusky about twenty-five to thirty.
